What Causes Severe Pain In The Hips And Thighs?

At night when I am laying down I have severe pain in my hips and thighs on the sides, both sides hurt but the right side is severe, it almost feels like somebody is twisting a knife in my bone. Also if I sit just right it hurts. Prolonged standing and walking causes a burning sensation and tingling all the way down the right side

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that you may have arthritic or other changes in the hips that may be contributing to your pain. Arthritis can affect nerves that are passing in the affected area, potentially compressing them, this can cause nerve related pain.

Imaging would be needed to take a look at these joints.

Nerve related issues would be causing the burning or tingling, these are typical of abnormal function of the nerves.

If the x rays did not show any changes that could cause these nerve symptoms then your doctor may need to rule out other causes by doing blood tests.

Other causes of nerve related pain include: (1) diabetes
(2)low vitamin b12 or folate
(3)thyroid disease
(4)kidney or liver disease
(5)side effect of medication
(6)abnormal vitamin b 6 levels
(7)exposure to toxins

Blood tests would be needed to detect these conditions if present

Treatment would depend on the cause found.

I hope this helps
