What Causes Severe Pain In The Finger Joints Radiating To The Wrist?

For a little while now, I have been having very bad pain in my finger joints, which has also started to spread down to my wrists more than a few times a day. I would describe the pain as a stiff feeling, but also just very hurtful in general. I would also like to note that I have had a very terrible cramp in one of my hands- on the connective finger joint, that lasted around 40 minutes straight, where I could not clench or stretch my fingers out, and at some points; could not move it at all. It was extremely painful, and my wrist was also in a bit of pain at the time too. Now my finger joints seem to be aching and hurting quite a bit all the time, along with my wrists- instead of how it used to only be small bursts of pain on an occasion.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The symptoms that you are experiencing are indicative of joint inflammation that is causing you pain & discomfort. It can be either be Rheumatoid arthritis or Osteoarthritis. Visit ER, get examined physically & get investigations (CRP, anti-CCP, ESR, X-Rays, MRI, etc., if required) done.

Get evaluated, get treated. In the meantime take NSAIDS, acetaminophen for relieve. Consult a Physiotherapist for physical & occupational exercises. Take care.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K.
