What Causes Severe Pain In The Chest And Upper Back?

I came out positive for strep throat, but I am also having very sharp pain in my chest that moves to my upper back and neck whenever I have movement or take a deep breathe, I ve also been having shallow breathing can this be a symptom of strep or something else?

Hello,

I read your message and understood your medical problem.

As you have strep throat it is possible that the infection has spread down in your lungs and causing lung inflammation resulting to possible pneumonia.

The sharp pain you feel in your chest that moves to the neck and upper back originates from your lungs. Shallow breathing and the fact that the pain gets worse when in a move or when you take a deep breath strongly suggests a lung trouble.

Pressure in the lungs is increased and compresses the chest walls affecting the nerves to cause the sharp pain also known as pleural pain.

You must see a doctor immediately and do medical examinations like a chest X-Ray to identify pneumonia, throat culture, and you need to start antibiotics immediately.
