What Causes Severe Pain In The Buttocks On The Right Side?

I have severe pain in my right butt cheek. It s worse when I walk. I m raking Tylenol 3 w/ codeine, sitting on a heating pad. Walking is difficult, feels like a spear going into my pelvic bone, or whatever is there. I had my neurologist look at it yesterday, he thought it might be my bursitis, which does hurt on occasion, but the hip bursa is not hurting today. Related?? I don t know what it is, but it hurts like crazy. Any questions? Suggestions?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to neuropathic pain like in sciatica. As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Ibuprofen or Gabapentin for pain relief.

If symptoms persist it is better to consult an orthopaedician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
