What Causes Severe Pain In The Back And Leg?

Hi, I possibly have sciatica with severe pain running down the back and front of my leg making it impossible for me to do anything. I ve had an mri and seen a neurologist. He has prescribed PT by request from myself, prescribed gabapentin and he has scheduled me to have an emg test in 3 weeks. I have been living with this pain for about 3 weeks now and I am in dyer need of some pain relief. I would like to get the epidural steroid shots to try to get some relief. Is this something that could possibly help me. Thanks, Teri Armstrong

Hello,
Thanks for the query.
You can take analgesics like gabapentin which is extremely useful for neuropathic pain as in your case. Eoidural shots can not be used for long term due to its potential complications.
If the pain is severe, you can consult a neurologist and get evaluated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
