What Causes Severe Pain In Right Arm While On Coversyl?

Due to a blocked popliteal artery in my leg, I was prescribed to take atvostatin 40 mg (cholesterol inhibitor) and Ramipril (high blood pressure) with no side efffects. My doctor was concerned that my blood pressure was too high and he changed the Ramipril to Coversyl 4 mg a week ago. Since then I have experienced extreme debilitating pain in my right arm (near elbow) so I cannot sleep, resembling myalgia. I need to manage this quickly and will be seeing my doctor soon. Do you have a gut feel as to what the problem may be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If the pain only started with the use of the coversyl then it is possible that it is related, this medication can be associated with muscle cramps in some persons.

Muscle pain can also occur with statins like atorvastatin, though you were on this medication for a while.
The associated muscle pain can start after a person has been using it for a prolonged period.

You should speak to your doctor, you may first want to consider discontinuing the coversyl and trying another agent to see if the pain improves.

I hope this helps
