What Causes Severe Pain In Lower Back And Buttocks Radiating To Thighs And Lower Abdomen?

I have been going to my chiropractor for pain in my lower back, buttock area and now the pain has gotten substantially worse. It is traveling down both thighs and lower stomach area. He is telling me it is bursitis in my hip. I have been applying ice and taking advil. It does not seem to lessen the pain. What do you think it could possibly be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

I've gone through your query. I can understand your anxiety.

If it's diagnosed as bursitis as you say, I advice you
1. Not to overstrain the affected area & take rest
2. Apply local heat to relieve pain.
3. Apply Ice pack, if the affected area is swollen
4. Antibiotics & Analgesics
5. Local aspiration of bursitis
6. Corticosteroid injection should be given.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Get well soon.

Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
