What Causes Severe Pain In Knee Radiating To The Hip?

Hello, my name is Brittany. My mother is currently being treated to figure out what could be causing some sever pain in her hip to her knee. She has a build up knot in her knee. She has had this knot removed before. We do not know what could be causing this knot. She has had a MRI and X-rays on her knee, hip, and back. Everything came back to be fine. I was wondering if you know of any medication that may cause her bones to become brittle. She has taken the medication Paxil, Neurontin, Xanax, Wellbutrin, Tramadal, Clonidine, Zoloft, Premarin, Trazadone, and Lithium. Cancer also runs in our family. Could this be a possible solution.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe pain in knee radiating to the hip . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like sciatica , gout , bursitis , herniated disc or broken bone . I would suggest you to give proper rest to your knee , apply warm compresses on back and knee , keep your knee stabilize and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain . Consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan, MRI or physical examination . Doctor may give plaster , prescribe orthodox MR along with anti inflammatory and recommend physical therapy or surgery in severe disc damage . Do not lift heavy objects.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
