What Causes Severe Pain And Stiffness In Hips?

I have been having a lot of pain in my hips. when I sit for any length of time, I get stiff and it is hard for me to get up and walk. I have to ease up and the pain is sometimes almost unbearable. I also have issues with my right foot. I broke it in three places about 3 years ago and was very careful to do everything the doctor told me. They said that it was healed completly, but I don t think that it did. If I stand on it for very much time it begins to ache and throb. I swells some and hurts all the time. I have been told that I just need to accept that it is probably arthritist and go on, but I would really like to know for sure. I do not have a job or insurance right now, so I can t go to be checked out. I am very active and this is getting in the way of my life at this time.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe pain and stiffness in hips. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like ankylosing spondylitis , bursitis , arthritis , legg calve perthes’ disease , tendinitis or sciatica . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan , MRI along with nerve conduction test . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant , methotrexate , infliximab or steroid injection along with physical therapy . For now take proper rest , apply warm compresses and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain .
