What Causes Severe Pain And Congestion Behind Eye Inspite Of Taking Ibuprofen?

Extreme pain and congestion with pressure behind eye usually occurring at night. Ibuproferin sometimes helps, but not always. This has been going on for about 6 years. Dr. Recommended saline solution and moist wash cloth...neither help. Am at wits end.

DR. HANIF warmly welcomes you!

Thanks for contacting me at my virtual clinic. I am here to help you.

In my expert opinion it looks like increases pressure in the eye ball. It may be due to Glaucoma (a disease of the eye), or due to some mass behind the eyeball that pushes on the eyeball and causes all that. You need to change your ophthalmologist and ask your new ophthalmologist for a CAT Scan for proper evaluation and treatment of the cause.

Are you diabetic or hypertensive? Get yourself screened for the both and consult your primary physician for treatment if needed.

Hope it helps.

REGARDS!
