What Causes Severe Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Toes?

Over the last 9 mths, I have noticed numbness/tingling bilaterally in my toes. I was diagnosed w/ plantar faciatis about 2 1/2 yrs ago and thought it was related to that. I started to have finger tip numbness about 3 months ago. We have a 10 mth old Lab who can pull significantly on his leash, and I thought it was because of that. I have always had pain in my hands when they get cold (self dx d Ranaud s Syn). I do not experience incr. d thirst, hunger, or voiding. I have gained a lot of weight over the last 2 1/2 yrs. I am 5 10 and am probably 275#. I recently did 4 days of painting, and awoke each morning after w/ pain in my rt hand middle finger to the point that I could not bend my finger. I lifted the paint cans, but not excessively or for long periods of time. I don t know if I should seek a peripheral vascular doc or neuro doc s care. I don t currently have a PCP.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

long with it, those sensory losses, indicate early onset nerve fiber damage, the most likely cause can be due to that jumping event only, along with a formation of neuroma (possible Morton's neuroma) due to may be nerve entrapment.

No, one week is not at all advisable, as it can worsen even further, so you need to get yourself checked out without any further delay.

There's a need to rule out a stress fracture of the toe also.

There'll be a need to undergo for X-ray of the feet along with MRI after physical evaluation by a Orthopedician.

You can simply go to your nearest ER/urgent care where you'll not only get yourself promptly examined but also will receive immediate management accordingly.

This is certainly not a manageable situation at home/work, so you'll definitely get off from your work for the time being.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
