What Causes Severe Nausea And Weakness While On Victoza?

My mother in law took victoza for approximately one month. She could barely function. She had severe nausea and fatigue and weakness. She has been off of it for about a month and continues to have severe back and shoulder pain. Could this drug have done permanent damage or will it take longer than a month to get out of her system

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe nausea and weakness while on Victoza . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case the symptoms are due to the medicine victoza . The injectable Type 2 diabetes drug Victoza works by stimulating insulin production. The drug may be linked to side effects like headache, dizziness , upset stomach, loss of appetite , nausea and vomiting . I would suggest you to consult your endocrinologist for proper examination . Doctor may alter the dose or prescribe substitute . For now drink plenty of water with lemon and ginger juice in it .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
