What Causes Severe Metallic Taste In The Mouth?

My wife started getting a metallic taste when consuming solids or liquids. She has no new prescription. She tried Chocolate milk, no metal taste and Cheetos as well. She just finished 3 months of toenail fungus treatment. We recently moved from New Jersey to Idaho three months ago. No new change in habits.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain as she has finished a 3 months course of antifungal treatment for toenail fungus it means she has taken anti fungal medication for 3 months and it is one of the most potent cause of metallic taste in mouth..
Therefore metallic taste in mouth in your case seems to be a side effect of anti fungal medication..
You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and in case if it is not the cause other causes like gum diseases, allergic rhinitis, nasal polyps, sinus infection, upper respiratory tract infection, acid reflux etc, can be ruled out and treatment of underlying cause will resolve the problem..
As of now you should gargle with a flavored mouthwash, chew sugar free chewing gums and drink plenty of water..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
