Suggest Treatment For Severe Metallic Taste In Mouth

Yes, my question is this - within the last two weeks, I will just get a metallic taste that starts at the back of my throat and moves forward on my tongue. I brush and brush my teeth and tongue but it still comes back. I am a 45 yr old female. Thank you in advance.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query severe metallic taste in mouth could be due to nasal and sinus disease, upper respiratory infection and head trauma, frequent causes of taste disturbance include oral infections, dental infections, dental procedures and due to involvement of glossopharyngeal nerve and olfactory nerve. you need not to worry about it. You can easily get rid of that by visiting dental surgeon once and cleanliness of oral cavity done. Take supplements rich in iron. Get a complete hemogram and blood. I would suggest you to consult oral surgeon and neurologist for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan and MRI to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe anti inflammatory drugs and in some cases surgery is also one of the option.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
