What Causes Severe Knee Pain Post Infusion Of Marcaine?
My 57 yr old husband went to a pain clinic has 2 sets of Marcaine injections ( 2 visits ) administered with fluorescein dye & xrays into the facet joints L5S1 area now has severe kneee pain ? His leg weakness due to stenosis has also intensified ? Is this normal. He is not surgical due to 3 past fusions??

Hello,
Post infusion with marcaine the patient may experience pain in the knee due to side effects of Marcaine. The joint may get stiff, inflamed, pained, infected due to nerve injury/ damage.
Take NSAIDs, Naproxen, one sos to get rid of the knee pain. You are suggested to get clinically examined to rule out any developing complication (septic arthritis, leg paresis, etc) & get MRI, CT, X-Ray, USG. Get treated at the earliest.
Get Nerve Conduction tests done to detect any developing peripheral artery neuropathy(leg weakness).
Treatment will depend upon the severity of the pathology detected. It can be treated with therapy, corticosteroid injections to relieve pain or surgery.
Take vitamin B6, B12, folic acid supplements. Keep your knee at rest.
