What Causes Severe Kidney Pain Along With Frequent Urination?

I have a bit of a history of kidney problems. I had pyelonephritis after both my children were born. I have had cystitis many times although not for past 20 years. For last few days my left kidney is painful and I am aware of my left ureter at the same time. This is considerably worse during the night and have to urinate two or three times when it is very painful for some time afterwards. It is very different to cystitis as I do not have any pain from my urethra when passing water.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you may need to do an uroculture and urine analysis to get evaluated. Also, an ultrasound of kidneys is needed to check their situation because of nephritis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
