What Causes Severe Itchiness On The Wrist, Feet And Neck?

Hello. I have been experiencing some severe inching on my hands, wrists, feet, and neck...those are the worst places, but it itches on my arms, legs, as well as my stomach and back. But the thing is there is no rash there is some redness whoever most of that is from me scratching. This started Wednesday evening, by Thursday (which I m not sure one thing has to do with other) I was sick with some type of the stomach flu. I was sick with a fever 101.9*, which I basically slept most of the day. I ve been taking Benadryl which helps some but when it wears off I m back to itching again! Do you have any suggestions....I m miserable and need help.

Hi,

Viral illnesses can be associated with skin rashes. This is called viral exanthem so it is possible that the rash is linked to your stomach flu. In addition to the oral anti histamine, you can try calamine lotion and a topical antihistamine or topical steroid to see if you experience any relief.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
