What Causes Severe Itchiness In The Body?

Do I need to see a doctor? I have had itchy skin for over a year. My skin is not dry (maybe a little- humidity is about 30%). I do not use lotions or creams. When I scratch at the itch bumps appear and, of course lines where I scratch. The itching is random and happens all over my body except on my hands feet and face. The redness disappears within minutes. My email address is YYYY@YYYY Thank you.

hi,
thank you for putting up your query on HCM.
as per you history, you have chronic urticaria which is a allergic condition of the skin. it is important for you to know, what aggravates your condition, like it can be aggravated by drugs; food like youghurt, tomato, brinjal, lemon etc.; stress, infections, also physical factors like cold, water exposure, heat, exercise, vibrations. it can be autoimmune or idiopathic also.
my treatment aadvise would be:
1. avoidance of the factor which is resposible for your lesions.
2. take levocetrizine once a day daily and one tab of albendazole 400mg to be taken only once.
3. also tablet famotidine 20 mg twice a day to be taken.
4. since you have a chronic nature of disease, you can go for asst after consulting a dermatologist.
5. other modalities of treatment include a course of corticosteroids, cyclosporine, hydroxychloroquine if resistant to above treatment.
thank you
