What Causes Severe Headache Followed By Pain In The Stomach?

I have periodic episodes where I am in bed my head feels like thumping no pain, then I get extreme stomach pain and I get up to go to the toilet while there I cant go to the toilet but I start sweating profusely, having no result with the bowel I make my way back to bed where I feel faint and sometimes do faint only 1 fainting episode, then I feel freezing cold and have to put the electric blanket on to get warm. I was told it was a vasovalgus syncope but another opinion was irritable bowel. Can you offer your opinion please.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a migraine attack.

As first-line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist, better to consult a neurologist and plan for an MRI brain to rule out possible intracranial (inside the brain) causes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
