What Causes Severe Dryness On The Mouth After Taking Amoxicillin?

Hi my mum has been taking amoxicillin for three days. She has just driven to my house and felt very panicky as her mouth started to go very dry. Is this a normal side effect? I have read the information on side effects from this website and it does say to consult a doctor etc. Should she stop taking them until she can get to her GP on Monday?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain Dry mouth or Xerostomia is a less commonly seen side effects of Amoxicillin and in case if she is taking any other Medication it can be a side effect of it..
In case if you are not taking any other medicine it can be due to Amoxicillin and you can consult your treating physician and can change her medicine..
As of now she can suck tart candies and chew sugar free chewing gum as it can stimulate saliva flow..
Drink plenty of water..
ope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
