What Causes Severe Dizziness While On Ranitidine?

I am prescribed one 300mg of Ranitidine Tablets daily. It causes dizziness which seems to be getting worse. The room seems to spin when I lay in bed. I cut the pill in half and I do not have the side effects. I am 66 year old woman who weighs 135 pounds. I would like your opinion before I call my doctor.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi i do care for your concern.
Ranitidine in most of the cases will not cause side effects.
Considering your age it advisable to check for other non communicable disease such as hypertension and diabetes.
secondly ranitidine in rare cause do cause side effects, so consult your physician and rule out non communicable disease first, If found to be negative then the drug can be changed with other class of medicine.
Hope i have answered your question, if you have more feel free to ask.
Thank you.
