What Causes Severe Discomfort In The Chest?

I am experiencing chest discomfort; squeezing in the center of the chest and it feels laborious to exhale fully. I have been having elevated diastolic blood pressure for some time now and it is getting more frequent. I started Metoprolol Tartrate earlier today along with Lisiniprol 20 mg. It caused discomfort, but I'm not sure if it was just anxiety over another heart medication. My blood pressure in the past hour was 137 over 95. What should I do?

Hi,

Your symptoms could be due to myocardial infraction, angina, Panic attack. For safer side, I would suggest to consult internal medicine specialist as soon as possible and undergo blood test like CK. CK-MB, troponin, ECG to rule out heart problem.

Specific treatment depend on cause. Myocardial infraction require immediate treatment by aspirin, clopidogrel, statin, streptokinase infusion and O2 inhalation. Anxiety require benzodiazepam group drugs.
