What Causes Severe Diarrhea In A 10 Month Old?

Hi there, my 10 month old daughter has had really bad diarrhoea for a week, she was admitted to hospital yesterday for rehydration and is back home now and happy but her skin is still very purply and mottled. Yesterday her lips went very purple which is why I took her to the hospital. She s having wet nappies again but I am not happy with the skin tone. What could it be - the paediatrician at the hospital said perhaps she s holding her breath which I know she definitely isn t!!! Please tell me what you think! Thank you!

Hi...mottling of skin and blue lips cannot occur due to dehydration. As your pediatrician has suggested it could be breath holding spell and it is even more so if this is happening after the baby is crying.

The other possibility is that the baby could be in shock due to dehydration.
