What Causes Severe Cramps In The Shin And Feet?

Every evening and sometimes during the day I have severe cramping in the lower part of my shins and in my feet and toes. I ve started taking large doses of magnesium about a month ago but doesn t seem to be helping. The spasm and pain mostly runs down the left leg on the out side of the shin area..

Cannot say in your particular case, but generally, restless leg is pretty common.

There are other potential causes such as electrolyte abnormality, diabetic neuropathy or even poisoning. But RLS is in more than 15% of the adult population.

Most of the other causes cause constant pain or pain from obvious triggers (sciatica is triggered by certain leg and back positions for example). THere are very good and safe medicines for RLS.
