What Causes Severe Cough With Thick Sputum Despite Having Normal X-ray?
I have had a severe cough every morning for several months. It dissapates over the course of the day. I bring up small amounts of thick sputum. There is a metallic aftertaste. My doctor has listened with a stethoscope twice and says I m clear. Also one X-ray with negative result. What could it be?

Hi. Do you smoke? Do you have fever or weight loss? It will be good to get some more clinical details. In any case you could get a culture done. Have you done a hemogram and ESR?
