What Causes Severe Abdominal Cramps, Nausea And Dizziness During Menstruation?

I am a 37yo female who has unbearable menstrual cramps, cold sweats, nausea, and feelings of faint when I start my period for the first couple of days. The first couple of days the pain is like contractions. Bleeding isn t so bad during this time, its not usually heavy till day 3. I have tried pain killers, anti-inflammatory, hot baths, heating pads, (you name it, I have tried it).. I have always had painful periods, but since my tubal in 2006, that s when it started becoming unbearable.. I had a trans vaginal ultrasound done on 07/08/2014, but have since lost my insurance, so I have the results but don t know what they mean. Uterus is anteverted and slightly retroflexed measuring 8.7x4.2x4.5cm. Have endometrial stripe 8mm thick. Small nabothian cyst ii s seen in cervix. Right ovary 2.3x1.6x1.9cm and demonstrates cyst 1.6x0.8x1.1cm. Left ovary 2.7x2.0x2.1cm and demonstrates follicle or cyst 1.0cm.. What does all this mean?

Hello,

As of now, you can take analgesics like Mefenamic acid for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist better to consult a gynaecologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
