What Causes Rusty Colored Semen With History Of Knee Reconstruction?

I have found rusty coloured semen which I believe to be blood. I am 82 years old and four months ago I had a knee reconstruction.During that operation the hospital fitted a catheter into my bladder and had difficulty urinating ever since . I have had a 14 to 15 % PSA reading and over the years I have had three biopsies, all negatTive. I am not sexualux ly active so it has taken me time to discover this problem. Thanking you. General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Rusty colored semen is due to blood mixed during your ejaculation.
It could have been due to injury that has not completely healed of your previous catheterization or injury that has not completely healed due to biopsies done on your prostate gland.
Injuries in old age like yours takes a longer duration to heal completely.
It is hence advisable to give rest in the form of abstinence for another 3 weeks. Consume Vitamin C and citrus fruits/fruit juices during this period, which would promote wound healing. Slowly regain your sexual activities.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
