Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Runny Nose, Swollen Eye And Rashes All Over Face In A Child?
My 2 year old grandson has been getting red rashes all over his face after he wakes up from a nap. I thought it was foot, hand and mouth, but he only has little bumps on his shins (like when you have cold chills). He s irritable and his eyes swell, turn red and he can t stop rubbing them. His nose is runny too. 100 degree fever off and on for the past 4 days. The symptoms go away after a couple hours. Please advise.
The symptoms of your son seem to be related to a viral infection. I suggest your son to rest and take Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen for the fever.
I also suggest using Calamine lotion for local application at the rash area. Regarding the eye redness and swelling you can use artificial teardrops to relieve the symptoms.
If the symptoms continue for more than three days, you should see a pediatrician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
