Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Right Sided Upper Back Pain Radiating Towards Right Arm?
I have upper back pain on the right side. My doctor did X-rays of my back and neck. Nothing showed on the X-rays, however when I sit on my chaise with my legs extended I get a shooting pain down my right arm into my pinky and ring finger. I have since changed seats but sitting and sleeping and sneezing are very uncomfortable. I am down pt twice a week but doesn t really seem to be helping. Maybe a little. Inplaybtennis, golf and paddle. I have not played anything since Saturday. I am going to rest my body to see if this helps.
Most probably it will be a spine related problem like prolapsed disc or nerve impingement impingement. As a first line management you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist better to consult a neurologist and plan for an MRI scan.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
