sir/madam, i am 32 year old and am smoking from 17 years not a heavy smoker but just 5-6 in 24hrs. Now my problem is that from last 2 years i am feeling pain in my chest on the right side, i went to a chest specialist and he told me there is nothing to worry about. but i am little concern about this as sometimes the pain goes hard. please reply
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Since you are chronic smoker, pleurisy (inflammation of pleura) can cause similar kind of chest pain. In pleurisy, all reports, chest x ray, PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) are normal. So in my opinion, you should quit smoking as soon as possible. Take simple painkiller and anti inflammatory drugs like paracetamol or ibuprofen for 10 days. Apply warm water pad on affected areas of chest. Don't worry, you will be alright with all these. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
