What Causes Restless Legs Syndrome?

I have had RLS for at least 7 years. I was put on requip and that worked for awhile. Then was put on mirapex. It caused me to have anxiety issues. So I took myself self off and went back on requip. For the last 2 nights I have had no sleep. My medication , hot bath, sleeping pills ect. Did not help. I was diagnosed about 15 years ago with probable ms. I m frustrated with no definite diagnosis. Could ms cause RLS symptoms?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello

In most of the cases of restless leg syndrome (RLS), doctors do not know the cause.

Genes might play a role as almost half of the patients have a family member affected with this condition.

Certain chronic medical conditions such as Parkinson's, kidney failure, iron deficiency anemia have symptoms of RLS.

Sleep deprivation may trigger or aggravate RLS.

You should start exercising regularly.

Hot baths wand leg massage will help you get good sleep.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma,
