What Causes Redness In The Raised Mole On The Forearm Due To The Scratching?

Hello, I have had a small (2mm, symmetrical) raised mole on my forearm for as long as I can remember that I just scratched the top layer off of. I m a bit of a hypochondriac and was sleep deprived, so I started picking at it. It s still raised, but it looks like I scratched the top brown layer off and now I see red where it used to be. Sort of like the skin under a scab. There was no bleeding, itching, or pain. I m worried, though! I have been putting peroxide on it and monitoring it, but I was curious if there is any action I should take, or things I should be rushing to the Dr. for.
