What Causes Redness And Swelling In The Eye?

My 2 year old has what looks like an eye infection, is this ER worthy? Should I wait till morning to just go to her ped? Her eye is red, starting to swell and when she opens her eye there is a thin film over most of it....15 minutes ago, she was fine other than a few "crusties" as we call it...I'm so worried.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello there, thanks for the query . It would be better if i can see the photo. Also let me know if he is having fever , stickiness in eyes, purulent foul smelling discharge from eyes history of any foreign body in the eye.

Till then yoy can just swipe both eyes with separate sterile cotton swab soaked in normal saline or sterile water from inside out.

Also you can use ciplox-D eye drops 3 times a days in both eyes.
Consult opthalmologist if irritation or redness persists for more than 24 hrs.
