What Causes Redness And Swelling Around Navel Piercing?
hey! I got my belly button pierced sometime last month. i know you re not suppose to change or swim until within three months of having it but i changed mine & I have been swimming with it ba. but it s swollen and very red not just around the ring but in the inside of my belly button too there s also two red sits on the inside bottem of my belly button there has been brown skin around it too. how too I keep it clean & make all this go away?
You should have taken precautions and kept the belly button dry after piercing. Since now it is inflamed from inside, swollen and infected, you are suggested to get it clinically examined by a GP. You need to get it cleaned and antiseptic dressing done. You will be treated with a course of oral or im/iv antibiotic injections depending on the degree of infection.
You can take pain relieving medicines like Naproxen or Ibuprofen for relieve. If you have not taken, injection for tetanus will be given. Avoid swimming for at least 2-3 months. Keep the navel area dry, be very careful while bathing, do not wet it. Avoid addictions if any. Wear loose, soft cotton clothes. Avoid sunburns. Do not touch, scratch or pop.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
