What Causes Reddish Brown Rectal Discharge?

I have found dark red/brown blood(i think its blood) stains in my underwear(backside) and i am really worried about my health. i had a similar problem 2 years ago with a white discharge also with blood but that turned out to be dermatitis. i wanna know is it cancer as i am a 24 year old parent of 4 daughters i am really worried if something happens to me who will look after my wife and kids. i was in marines but got discharged due to PTSD(which is at a manageable level now) and i have a history of diarrhea and constipation. i am also a bodybuilder/power-lifter but I ve never used any steroids and i have not been using any supplements lately. my diet is full of junk food but i also take a high protein diet side by side. please help!

Hello,

Causes of bleeding per rectum are hemorrhoids, anal fissure, anal fistula, perineal abscess, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and colon cancer. As you have a history of diarrhea and constipation, mostly you are suffering from irritable bowel disease. Please don't worry as it is treatable.

You need to be examined in detail and if any investigations like stool examination and if necessary colonoscopy may be performed. Please do consult a gastroenterologist for a specific diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
