The scab over, bleed and now are becoming painful New sores are appearing on his genetiles, face, arms. They start out small and grow in the same spot and nothing is helping them get better. Multiple creams have been tried with no relief. The only thing that seems to help at all is if he goes swimming they begin to clear up? Any ideas?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

He likely needs oral medication if the use of creams is not helpful.

Based on the description, an infection may be present.

The infection may be viral , fungal or bacterial. Some persons have a combination of these infections as well.
If they have been occurring for more than 1 to 2 weeks, viral is not as likely as the others.

He should see his doctor for assessment and treatment or the lesions will likely continue to recur.
Oral anti fungals and/or oral antibiotics may be needed.

I hope this helps

Psychiatrist Dr. Sonia Malhotra's  Response
Dear grandma,
Sorry to hear your grandson duffering from this trouble. In a 4 year old child multiple possibilities can be there. This could be scabies also, body lice also and allergic rash also. Since swimming pool water has high content of chlorine and other disinfectants, the infection clears temporarily, indicating it is most likely scabies or lice. But considering the patient is a child, we cannot experiment wirh drugs. It is advisable to see a dermatologist and get medicines prescribed according to the condition and weight of your grandson. That will be in his best inrerest.

may he get well soon,
regards,
Dr. Sonia
