What Causes Red, Itchy And Raised Bump On The Neck?

I have a red raised bump on my neck about an inch long. It itches and there is a constant dull pain. There are no bite marks or signs of a scratch. There is no heat coming from it. It just started itching in the car while I was driving 2 days ago, it feels like a long tube inside. It hasn t changed with time. I have put tea tree oil on it for the itching but it does not help much. Not sure if I should see a doctor.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a contact dermatitis. I recommend to use an antihistamine such as Cetirizine to relieve the itching. I also recommend to use a mild steroid cream for local application such as Hydrocortisone cream.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
