General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

There are many types of contraceptive pills & contraceptive devices that can be used.

Some may cause side effects like severe allergic skin rash in the legs or other parts of the body, pain or swelling in the legs.

Sometimes they may also cause blood clots along with other symptoms like fainting, jaundice, etc.

You are suggested to visit a gynecologist, get physically examined. Get your contraceptive pill replaced by an alternative pill that suits you better.

You can take an antihistamine to get rid of the allergic skin rash. You can apply ointment soframycin or Neomycin locally.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
