What Causes Red Bumps On The Glans Penis After Intercourse?

Hello, I m a little concerned about an issue I m having, i had sex about 5 days ago and now I have 2 little bumps on the left side glans of my penis head, and 2 red dots under my foreskin, none have pus build up of any sort, and until I saw them, there was no sensation of burning or anything like that. Now when I apply my regular cream, cocanut cream, there is a little bit of a sensation, I am hoping they go away as I ve had something like this before but without sex. However, last night I slept with pj s, 100% cotton and it is a possibility it could be irritation from the cotton, and I normally sleep in boxer shorts, I will keep you updated but I m not in my home country and haven t seen a doctor yet, would just like an opinion of one. Again, no build up of any kind, just 4 little red dots, 2 of the left side gland and 2 on the left side of my foreskin, 1 where the foreskin meets the glans and another underneath my penis under the foreskin, any kind of information would help, as I am quite certain it is not herpes.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your symptoms could be due to fungal balanitis. But examination by the dermatologist is must for diagnosis. You can also use premium service of the HCM in which you can upload photograph of the bumps.

The doctor will give following advises for fungal balanitis:

1. Apply clotrimazole cream for 1 week

2. Dose of fluconazole

3. Wear cotton clothes and undergarments in order to reduce the sweating

4. Do not apply any kind of oils / moisturizing lotion over the affected area

5. Just give warm saline compresses twice daily then apply cream

6. Change inner after work out

7. Drink plenty of water, eat healthy diet and do regular exercise

Hope this may help you. Contact further if follow up needed.

Best regards,
Dr. Sagar
