What Causes Red Bumps Between The Legs And Pelvic Area?

I have a few red bumps in the area between my leg and my pelvis. The skin around the bumps is red also. One bump has a purple center. I am female and overweight so I am wondering if this is a heat rash of some kind since my stomach hangs over this area.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history you are having Intertrigo groin with folliculitis.

My treatment advice is -
1. Maintain good hygiene and bath twice daily.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like Fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetrizine for itching and NSAID like ibuprofen for pain.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral Fluconazole taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
Dr. Harshit bhachech.
MBBS, DDVL.
