What Causes Red And Painful Circle On Buttock?

My husband had a sore on his butt that was hard to the touch and developed a red ring around it that was also hot to the touch...it has busted and is draining. Now he has two more sores that are also draining. The area around the sores is red and hot and also covered with what i originally thought were goose bumps but now i m afraid they are tiny blisters....please give your advice..thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello,
i can understand your concern.
it seems like a gluteal abscess.
i would suggest you to consult your doctor for drainage of the abscess. the abscess should be drained completely or else it leads to recurrence.
sterile dressing should be done with betadine(povidone iodine)
after the drainage of abscess your doctor would prescribe an antibiotic like augmentin(amoxicillin+clavulanate) for five to seven days.
a culture sensitivity of the pus to determine the antibiotic would be preferable.
an anti inflammatory drug like diclofenac or aceclofenac is also advised for five days.
hope i have answered your concern.
feel free to ask further queries.
thanks for choosing HCM.
