What Causes Recurring Tingling In Left Arm, Shoulder And Fingers?

When I get out of bed in the morning, my left arm starts to tingle starting at my fingers up to my shoulder. it will go away as I move around but will return intermittently during the day, I returned to this screen to say, If I could afford the 20.00 copay to see my family physician I wouldn t have tried to use this option so thanks anyway.

welcome to HCM

looking at your description the Tingling sensation of the shoulder, hand and fingers means that there is some pressure on the nerve which is supplying all those areas; the pressure most commonly would be at the cervical vertebrae (spine of the neck) and which is generally due to decreased space between vertebrae(spine bones) from which nerve points come out.

It could also be early spondylitis which is quite common in the population.

your sleeping pattern would compress it more due to which the tingling is more appreciated in the mornings; so try sleeping with a good pillow which doesnt add strain over your neck and shoulder.

My advice would be to take calcium and vitamin D Tablets which help in non progression of the condition.

If the condition worsens i would suggest you to get a Digital X ray -AP- lateral view of neck done.

Dragging pain of left shoulder and hand could also be due to heart attack for which you also should have breathlessness or heaviness or burning sensation in the chest or abdomen which then would be an emmergency;

else you dont have to worry much.

Hope this helps
