What Causes Recurring Strep Throat After A Tonsillectomy?

I just had a tonsilectomy on 6-29-16, am a 41 year old female, recurring strep. This is DUMB but towards the end of the healing, scabbing proces, down my throat had something stuck in it, I thought it was a stuck scab. My ENT, just saw me about 4 days ago, said I probably pulled on the flap of skin that coversion the voice box. That area is still swollen and wrong feeling, food is getting caught there. ENT wasn t too concerned. Suggestions? And thank you.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to Health Care Team.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have recurring strep throat after a tonsillectomy. The reason for this is lower immunity of your body , outside food or incomplete antibiotics course . As there is no defensive mechanism for in throat due to tonsillectomy , body has become more susceptible and prone to get infected with streptococcus which is a very common occurrence. What you need to do is take Recofast plus capsule 3 times a day. Multivitamin rich in vitamin B and vitamin c . Jathrin tablet once daily. Take this course for 3 days you will be better. Do betadine gargles atleast 3 times a day.You need not to get them removed. Simply follow this and improve your general immunity. Take proper diet to boost immunity . Avoid outside food and also avoid cold beverages .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
