What Causes Recurring Sharp Pain In The Chest, Arm And Neck?

Hi, I am 27 years old female. The problem with me is that I suddenly feel sharp pain in left side of chest, it feels like some vain is being contracted on my leftside of chest or something is stuck in my vein which don t allow the blood to flow. And also have pain in my left arm and neck. First I thought it might be some breast pain I went for gynaecologist she done my memography and ultrasound and all was ok. But my pain is still. I went for doctor again many times regarding my pain, the doctor did ECG which was ok. Doctor said you have no heart problem. Then what problem I have? I am very much worried about it. It s been a year and I am facing this problem. Please help me out. What it might be and what should I do? Thank you very much Sam

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

In my view, the reason of pain could be vasculitides. That is basically inflammation of blood vessel caused due to various causes like auto-immune, smoking etc. There is a number of different types of blood vessel inflammation and they produce a variety of symptoms like sudden pain in the area supplied by affected blood vessel to weakness, visual disturbances etc.

I would suggest you consult a vascular specialist who deals with medicine related to blood vessels. You will be examined by the specialist and a detailed medical history will be taken. The treatment will be initiated once the diagnosis is made and may include steroids. Most patients show improvement in symptoms once the treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
