What Causes Recurring Right Sided Sharp Pain In The Back?

I was woken from a sound sleep with a stabbing pain in my right mid back upon taking a big breathe. I spent the last night in the hospital with the same symptom. They checked my heart and found nothing. They treated me for an ulcer with no tests on my UGI. Why am I still having thespian and what might cause this? I am worried now and can not sleep.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms are more likely suggestive of spine-related conditions like prolapsed disc or nerve root compression.

As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persists better to consult a neurologist and plan for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
