What Causes Recurring Rash Along With Cold Sore?

Background info: I had shingles 10 years ago. Throughout the past three years I have experienced surface rashing, which began with a cold sore.My doctor prescribed topical Acycovir and BOTH the cold sore and rashing went away.He also recommended seeing a Dermatalogist who has treated me for roscia for period of 1 1/2 years, with no results. He suggested it might be internally caused. The rash continues to appear at least twice a week (minus any cold sores) and has spread from the right side of my face to the left.I will consult my primary physician soon. So . . . my question is, should I ask about acyclovin s use on the rashes?

Your symptoms seem to be related to shingles.

I suggest using Acyclovir tablets.

I also recommend using Acyclovir cream for local application.
