What Causes Recurring Pain Under The Right Rib Cage?

hello, my name is Jason Goldizen. I have this reoccurring discomfort on my right side at the bottom of my rib cage. been on going for 3+ years. comes and goes. I compare it to a side ache after heavy running is the best way to describe it. I have blood work done every six months if this was something major do you think my doctor would see something in my blood work?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Blood work would show something if it is the liver that is causing the pain. In this case ALT, AST and bilirubin might be altered.
If the problem is due to bowel issues very likely the blood tests will not really show it.
You might also need to have an ultrasound to check how the other organs are in the area: the gall bladder, kidney, pancreas, etc.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
