What Causes Recurring Pain In Achilles Tendon?

2 months ago I was prescribed Ciprofloxican for Epididimytus. 3 days later I could hardly walk as the pain in my achilles tendons was so severe. I immediately stopped taking the medication. The pain comes and goes, and some days are worse than others. One constant, however, is my ankles and achilles tendons are ALWAYS cold to the touch. What could this be? Thank you,

General & Family Physician 's  Response
I have gone through your case and I can understand your concern. This is tendinitis (inflammation of tendons) due to use of Ciprofloxacin (so it's OK that you have stopped it) and also may be associated with subsequent tendon rupture. An ultrasound can visualize soft tissues like tendons and can also produce real-time images of the Achilles tendon in motion, to see if there's any damages. You may take Advil or Naproxen for pain and inflammation too. Specific stretching and strengthening exercises will promote healing and strengthening of the Achilles tendon and its supporting structures. Please don't forget to give your valuable feedback and five star rating, to help me assist you in a better way. Click at 'I Find This Answer Helpful too'.
