Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Recurring Episodes Of Tightness In Jaw, Increased BP And Chest Spasms?
My wife is 62 years old. has periodic episodes that start with tightening of the jaw, increased blood pressure and spasm in the chest. She has has a EKG and it was negative. usually occurs every couple or three months. She has had 3 in the past 2 days. usually lasts 30 minutes the releases. She has been checked by her primary doctor on several occasions with no definative answers.
I think it's time to see a cardiologist. EKG might be negative, but the problem is still there. Should run echocardiogram, stress test or any other test that cardiologist will think she needs to confirm the diagnosis.
As I do not know her personal history well, we should rule out hormonal imbalances like thyroid or menopausal changes. Discuss this further with her caring doctor or cardiologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
