Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Recurring Burnt Mark On The Upper Chest?
I have a small area of skin on my upper chest/neck that has the appearance of being burnt but isn t. It comes and goes over the last 2-3 months but has been constant over the last two weeks. Is it something to be concerned about? Or likely just a basic skin irritation?
Your symptoms can be due to friction, rub with your clothes or heat blisters and sweat. Take care of your hygiene, take regular bath and wear soft cotton fabrics. However, you are suggested to get it clinically examined by a dermatologist to confirm if it is scalded skin syndrome.
If confirmed, it requires treatment. It is a serious skin infection caused by the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus. Your treatment will require hospitalization as treatment will be done with intravenous antibiotics and other medications. You can expect recovery within 7-10 days. Stay well hydrated and treated at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
